Villages and hamlets

The "Comune" of Rhemes Saint Georges is located in the lower Rhemes valley at a height of 1.218 mt. above sea level and has a resident population of 208 inhabitants. Its territory is about 37 square kilometres. Its lowest point has a height of 1.102 mt. and the highest is the peak of Punta Bioula at 3.414 mt. above sea level.

The "Comune" of Rhemes Notre Dame is located in the high portion of the valley at a height of 1.725 mt. above sea level and has a resident population of 121 inhabitants. Its territory is about 86 square kilometres. Its lowest point has a height of 1.628 mt. and the highest one is the peak of Grande Rousse Nord at 3.607 mt. above sea level. The Visitors Centre of the Gran Paradiso National Park and its naturalistic museum is located in the hamlet of Chanavey.

In the Rhemes valley there are several hotels, bed and breakfast hotels, campings, restaurants, tennis courts, shops, an automated teller machine in Chanavey and in the hamlet of Carré there is a dedicated pic-nic area.

For those who like Alpine skiing at Chanavey there are Ski-Lifts and pistes for about 5 Km., while those who prefer to Cross-Country skiing in Bruil there are four Cross-Country courses totalling about 15 km. in length.
